President, Chief Experience Organizer, Lead Event Manager
Marilyn Patterson is the leadership behind Joyous Events. The skilled Event Manager serves as the CEO (Chief Experience Organizer). She is a graduate of The George Washington University Event Management Program, holds a B.S. in Psychology from Virginia State University, is a Leadership Alexandria graduate, is a Past President of the Association of Wedding Professionals of Greater Washington, DC, is a Professional Wedding Planner™ certified by the Association of Bridal Consultants and is a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.
In 2004, Joyous Events LLC was established as the exclusive provider of Wedding Day Coordination services for the Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line Ships that called on the Port of Baltimore, MD. Since that time, Joyous Events has developed a solid reputation of excellence through delivering well-organized events that support a variety of Associations, Non-Profit, Faith-Based, Political and Corporate entities in the Greater Washington, DC Metropolitan area.
Director, Cruise Ship Wedding Operations
With a strong background in Human Resources and flair for process and procedure, Valerie manages the Cruise Ship Weddings Division of Joyous Events. She has had an active role in coordinating over 100 weddings in the Ports of Baltimore, MD, Philadelphia, PA and Norfolk, VA since 2004 and also manages the staff operations in support of these events. She is a very compassionate lady with a calming spirit.
Valerie is a graduate of the Wedding Coordination Program at Community College of Baltimore County, the American Musical & Dramatic Academy and studied Mechanical Engineering at North Carolina A&T University, Greensboro, NC. She oversees staffing, vendor relationships, Internet marketing and IT requirements.
